My reverse has just started making a noise too. Works perfect, doesn't jump out of gear but I'm getting a rubbing sound as if its the wheel balance weights just catching something. I've checked it all out and it's definitely gear related as the noise disappears when I dip the clutch. Have I lost a tooth an it's maybe just rubbing on it?

Could be sticky release bearing or thrust bearing..

it does not make a difference if you have changed the gear oil to fresh gear oil, The release bearing is part of the clutch kit.

P.S, Does it make the noise when stationary and you dip the clutch in & out or whilst driving??

my gearbox has a knackered reverse and if im reversing it still does it if i dip the clutch. if i take it out of gear whilst rolling back the noise goes away. does yours not make the noise then if you dip the clutch with it still in gear? if not then i would say its not gearbox.

No noise when I dip the clutch and no noise when stationary.

I'm thinking now it's a clutch issue then, like you say a release bearing as it can be snatchy at times but I put that down to needing a new clutch cable. Funny how it's only making a noise in reverse though and it disappears when I dip the clutch.

I think I'm having the same problem as when I dip the clutch the noise stops in reverse when I release the clutch it starts making the noise

You got gearbox reverse idler issue, Will need a new box at some point.

You've got the same problem, gearbox reverse idler issue, does it make a noise that sounds like flapping or tick, tick, tick??
