hahaha aint that a b1tch! But how was it running when being bumped? Am sure the ac pulley would turn with the alternator or it wasnt turning?

I know my friends Mk3 would stall when you turn the aircon on if you pressed the AC button, the pump would completely lock up and stall the engine but with it off it never had an issue, odd situation.
Glad to see you're sorted though.

Thanks guys. Weird thing is it ran fine when I bumped it off, the pulley is seized solid, I removed the pump tonight.
I just need to remove the remainder of the air con system, refit the front end and sort the front jacking points

A Battery rated for a 1.4 polo will start a vr no problems.....

Its just food for thought though, it was a short term solution thats lived up to the task so never bothered
Looks lost in the engine bay though....
