Standard Straight Through Exhaust or Stainless?
« on: 02 September 2012, 10:20 »
My car currently has a standard system on with standard backbox, the cat and silencer have been removed.
If i get a straight through stainless exhaust with aftermarket backbox will there be much difference in noise? My mate has a 02 plate 130 Ibiza tdi with a straight through miltek and it sounds like a completely different car!
Also will there be any gains (I know if wont be much).

Thanks

Prob a few bhp gain, plus I could not be arsed swapping and changing every mot time. Plus if you get stopped by the traffic police expect a big fine!

What would i get fined for? and Why would i need to change it for MOT?
I thought you didnt legally need a CAT or silencer in an exhaust (Diesel only)?

Correct.  Diesels dont Need a cat for the MOT. My MK4 passed all its MOT's with the decat in place. The tester even commented on what a nice job it was too
