Cannot get mk2 to spark - left standing for a long time

Yes you're right, i do have the other air part intake. It was so old I could not make out if it was the missing part or not. Will replace just in case.

What is the reason the GTI did not have the Pierburg carb?
I know the GTI was 16v and injection but what else made it special?
Also, what fluid is used in the green round tank?

Is that your Golf in your sig picture? It looks great, the original look is something I want to aim for. Looks very tidy.

My knowledge is limited only to my GTi model, so sorry I can't help you out much with your carb setup. I have learnt alot, but without playing around with a carb myself I rather not post anything as I might be talking rubbish xD

GTi was also 8v and 16v.

The GTI didnt have a pierburg because of the I in GTI... stands for injection! Different fuel setup, dont know much about injection myself, but all cars have it these days, it replaced the carburettor basically

The green tank is actually a vacuum reservoir, again, not on my car so dont know, but i hear most people ditch them.

That makes sense. So you will never find a carb on an engine with injectors?

Also, is a throttle body also known as a carb?

No, they are separate things. Not sure, but the throttle body is part of the fuel delivery system on an injection setup

Going to start ordering all the spare parts soon List is quite big.

Need to sort the indicators too, they are not working.
