views on personalised number plates
« on: 30 August 2012, 15:43 »
my sister and her partner both have modded cars and personal reg plates, they both spell their names (or near enough).
i cant decide if i think this is super gay or cool!
been looking at what plates i could get for mine if i wanted to and could get DUB, VWG, VAG, GLF or my initials, but then it would probably be silly to get my initials as I plan to get married one day!

what do you think of personalised plates and is it better to get it personalised to your name or initials or something related to your car?!

well if you get it to do with your initials then you can always take it with you :) Get it about your car like GLF and you go get a subaru, then you look super Gay :)

Initials only. If you try to spell a word (for example S111RLE which is supposed to spell "Shirley" when spaced a bit) you are going to look like a proper thingy. Especially if your name is not Shirley.  :lipsrsealed:

Alternatively, save yourself a few quid and spend it on fuel or tuning. Personalized plates are a complete waste of time if you can't afford to put petrol in your car

Keeping schtum. Mostly.

Cherished No's can be a very worthwhile investment, I've accumulated quite a few over the years, all have risen in value, just steer clear of the cheap Irish plates! they're awful and your lucky to get any money back!

What is your budget

What are you initials etc

How old is the car that you want the plate to go on

A said above, steer clear of car related plates, unless you manage to find a real corker, which I did recently on 2 occasions! :lipsrsealed: :lipsrsealed:
lateral thinking can sometimes come up with something good

My biggest mistake involves a number plate! could have bought a Toyota Corolla back in the 90s, plate was
SHE 116Y cant remember why, but ended up not buying the car for what would have been a pittance! something like £50 as an MOT failure...
I believe that the plate SHE 16Y is, or has recently been up for sale for over 20k!
The original number, SHE 116Y is now on a Red Kit car, and through a friend that deals in plates, he put a value on it of over 10k
Still Gutted!
