AGU engine help
« on: 29 August 2012, 20:38 »
im sure this has been asked before but are these engines really as strong as people say, mine has done 103K miles now and im wondering how much longer it will last :) it is completely standard (apart from lowering springs and RS4 alloys) no remaps or engine mods and still got factory exhaust on! (14 years and still on), has a full service history and ive just serviced it myself. its just startedgetting a bit of a flicker on idle anybody no how i can sort this out, ive been told clean the throttle body with brake cleaner ? the car has got me paranoid now thinking its going pack up soon and i dont want get rid of it as i love the car so much! its such a nice drive and looks so good! lol thanks for your help :)

hardware will never pack in.

Worst you will get is MAFs, ignition amps or a lambda rarely.

IF its well looked after, itll go forever.

im hoping keep it i love the car its only 150bhp but its such a nice drive :) everybody i speak to say how good the engine is with it having larger exhaust ports and a smaller turbo so the engines apparantly last longer, im going buy a new MAF and lambda sensor just to see if it sorts out the flicker on idle and try clean the throttle body,  the only other problem my car has got but its had it for quite some time is the turbo seals pass a drop of oil every now and then, i lose hardly any oil, but i can see where the leak is, and 4 mechanics have checked it over and told me, he sees it all the time on these 1.8 turbo's and its a common problem, but wont harm nothing is this right and anybody else had this  ??
