no spark on the agu?
« on: 28 August 2012, 21:15 »
Right, my mates finishing off my 20v conversion into my mk3.

used oem management which has been deimmobisiled and chipped, and my mate (who is doing the conversion) spliced the mk4 loom with the mk4.

for some reason though he said that ecu isnt sending a spark signal to the coilpacks. first thought could have been the ignition amplifier but thats ok, all the wiring is good too. theres power to the coils and earth, just they arent firing.

any info/help be great going onto my 6th week of not having the car and i just want it up and running now!

tried putting it in reverse and starting it and no joy.
the ecu is showing fault codes so could rule that out as notworking

theres a few things which could be the cause?
the ecu is unlocked and chipped, could the chip be causing an issue?
we are testing the signal cable to the ignition amp tomorrow to see if theres power going to it
would the original mk3 immobiliser cause the ecu to not send out a spark signal, even though using original mk3 keys

Arhh man thats soo frustrating.

Iv only ever seen Mk4 conversions and usually the clocks, keys and ecu must be matched.
Your using the Mk3 keys and clocks with OEM Mk4 ecu yeah?
So if the Mk4 ecu is immo defeated does it still need coding to the Mk3 keys and clocks?

Im baffled, it sounds like the hardware is there as fueling isnt a problem, you have everything else plugged in it just wont fire!

its a bit more complicated than that really and i think thats where maybe the problem is.

im running audi s3 clocks with a wiring harness from them to the box under the dash (where the clocks normally plug into)

that wiring harness comes with an immobiliser defeat for the clocks.

the ecu then is unlocked and chipped...
its this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=221049094987&ssPageName=ADME:X:BOCOR:GB:1123
mate bought it and i used it.
already spoke to the ebayer seller of the ecu and they said that it was tested before coming out of the car and with the feedback and trust that, my only thinking now is would the clocks im using be the cause or maybe the standard immobiliser

I wouldnt have bought that ecu from them tbh, I wouldv rathered a spare one from a scrappy and had it defeated myself.
That map is sh!te too tbf.

If I were you, id stick the standard mk3 clocks back in get someone with vagcom to link it all up.
It could be so many different things and using mk3 keys with S3 clocls an a mk4 ecu cant be helping lol

Im not saying you cant use the S3 clocks but if you change the clocks in any car they always need coding in and the car will fail to start unless its done.

Im sure my ecu is immo defeated but when me an Rhyso tried swapping my spare clocks the car wouldnt start an we left my old ones in as I didnt have my skc code for the old units to swap the new ones in.

The throttle adaptation is pretty easy. Makesure its connected and leave car with ignition on for about 30secs for it to align itself. Failing that give it a good clean with brake cleaner an try again.

well with the clocks the wiring that i got bypasses the immob so they worked.
they started fine on the mk3, plus when i go to crank the engine now they light up etc, my thinking would be if they were stopping the engine starting it would be because they arent communicating with the ecu but if they are turning on they must be?

iv contacted the company with the ecu so trying to find out if i can get a return now or at least something.
