Everything seemed ok.......drove off fine nothing out of the ordinary....then today after a better look, my back wheel is bent outwards at the bottom.......have Im possible bent the axle??? The side you hit is bent outwards at the bottom?  How did you manage to do that?

Hopefully youve only bent the stub axle though. Easy to replace.

But if it was me I would find a 2nd hand beam and swap it over :)

Ah got ya

Well take both wheels off and have a good look at the beam for creases and cracks in the paint, all the way across.  You might have got away with it :)

Oh dear.

He probably said that because its quite alot of work to change it all over.

Ive found a Gti beam on Ebay for £50

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Mk2-Golf-GTi-Rear-Axle-BREAKING-GOLF-GTI-/290764347017?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item43b2e7d689

Just an Idea like.

Plenty more beams about, you may find one even cheaper.

Its not a hard job to swap it over, just time consuming.  Things will be quite rusty down there too.

I feel your pain Ali

Yep yep,

I had the same experience many years ago with the same sort of accident. Old Vauxhall Astra.  I had to buy two new wheels as well, amongst other parts!!

New discs and bearings would be nice. Although that wont be cheap, not sure how much.

If you do get another rear beam, check the axle beam bushes, see how they are. Ideal opportunity to change them for something different :)

:)

Well it sounds like you need to keep her going then with all those mods!!

Lets just hope you havnt done any serious damage to any integral part of the car  :undecided:

Once you get it all sorted and up and running get it all alligned and tracked properly. Then keep an eye on your tire wear.

Good luck with this matey
