Leaking Coolant

Been leaking some coolant slowly over the past week and have isolated to around where the metal pipe goes into engine block to the side of oil filter.

Couple of questions....

Is the leak going to be anything other than the metal pipe has a problem?
Is the pipe easy enough to replace myself?  To me it looks i will have to take the oil filter off, but maybe wrong.
Should I may as well buy a replacement pipe before I start taking the old one off?

Can do it with the filter on but it's a b!tch of a job....

AFAIK Replacement is NLA but try VW Classic...

Goodluck with that buddy i had a coolant leak started of with that metal pipe ..then had to change expansion bottle and cap and now ive just changed waterpump its all looking good so far

So, is it only going to be metal pipe?  And is a replacement the only option....it is only around £15, but still....

Just looking mad me wince  How does it attach on to the engine block? Just wondered whether it was a garage or DIY job

Not an easy job but do-able. Take the oil filter off. Much easier.
It's fixed to the block with two or three 6mm nuts and a 6mm screw.
