Burning Plastic Smell
« on: 24 August 2012, 12:50 »
Ok so heres the deal,
Fitted a pipercross induction kit, forge 008 dv and silicone tip abuot a month ago and have had not issues what so ever.

I recently went to longleat and drove around the safari park, as it was busy it was very stop start traffic, after about 45 minutes i could smell what smelt like burning plastic, when we got round i pulled up popped the hood and everything was fine, nothing that i could see was melted, the smell seemed to be comming from the cone filter but that looked fine. The engine was not over heating either, not warning ligths appeared.
Its been 2 weeks not and there doesnt seem to be any lasting damage done but just curious, I have a heat shield for my cone filter which i havent got round to fitting yet, would that help?

Cheers

i'll have a look but i dont think so, its strange and its only happen that one time, and it was when i was in stop start traffic, so something was obviously getting a little but hot.
