Battery Cables
« on: 23 August 2012, 21:11 »
Hi, have searched for this, and the posts frequently mention getting MK3 + and Passat + and - battery cables as a direct replacement for the Mk2 cabling.

My question is are the Passat cables a direct swap on 1.3 golfs, or only on the larger block engines? There are a few MK3 golfs and one passat in the breakers, but its a fiar trek, so would like to know for sure! I also presume i take the Alternator + blue wire from the passat too?

Anyone know wjat i should/expect to pay for these? Look on VWP and their new cables are about £5 each, which seems pretty cheap, but they dont look great...

Thanks :)

p.s anyone have a photo of the passat/mk3 leads in their mk2?

Mk3 cables are way too long. I wanted to use the earth negative cable and clamp on mine too make things neater but it was just too long.the negative is sort of made on the clamp as well

Really?! Is that just for the 1300 or all golfs? All of the search results say direct swap!?

#Where is the starter on the abf? I had a quick look at the passat today. but they were closing and pushing me out the door, and the bonnet wouldnt stay open!
