Upgrading the Manifold on a Cab
« on: 04 July 2005, 17:31 »
Hi all,

Has anyone with a Mk1 Cabrio (1800 carb) upgraded their manifold at all? I want a bit of extra ooomph (technical term) but not at the expense of potentially ruining an old but essentially rock solid and reliable engine.

A mate suggested changing the manifold and/or air filter. Has anyone got any advice or recommendations?

Cheers guys.

Phil

I've got a very restrictive 4 into 1 exhaust manifold on my cabrio. I have managed to buy an older 4 into 2 (similar to the mk2) manifold which is supposed to be a lot less restrictive. Haven't got round to fitting it yet but will do very soon. I decided to go that route instead of a stainless branch manifold as I've heard lots of complaints about them cracking. There was a very good article about it in Golf+ not so long ago. I'll try and find it later on and scan it in for you.
