could all these problems be caused by one thing?

hi all. ive got a few problems with my 52 plate golf tdi. when i bought the car the radio and heater blower wasnt working on any speeds and one of the bulbs had blown. i duno if something had blown to cause all of them to go:s
anyway i got the radio working, the fuse at the back had blown. still no luck with the blower though. checked the fuse and checked the actual fan itself by connecting it up to the live and it works.
another problem that has happened today is the steering wheel controls have stopped working including the horn and a dash message saying oil sensor workkshop has come up but oil level is fine. any ideas whats going on?

Possibly the sensor its self has gone tits. Or maybe a fuse that is linked to it. 

It sounds as if you have a few electrical gremlins crawling around. Any thing dodgey looking underneath your steering wheel or with any other of the electronics?

nothing odd under the steering. only thing strange is the wiriing to the headunit where  someone had fitted a hands free kit there.

The heater blower fault is a common one you have to change a box below
The housing of the fan. That is under the dash on the passenger side you got to remove
A piece of carpet just behind the glove box. There are 2 screws holding it up then just unplug
The wiring and plug the new one in hay presto fixed.

what made me think it wasnt the resistor pack was all 4 speeds have just stopped working. also another strange thing when i put the fan on any of the speeds it lights up but if ive got my headlights the lights on the fan controls wont light up:S

My resistor pack just stopped on 2 speeds but didn't notice
If it lit up or not. Might be worth testing if you know someone
With a working one local to you. Shouldn't take long to do.
