lost key
« on: 22 August 2012, 08:25 »
i have a 2001 bora and have lost one of my key fobs (two button type) i now have one key fob and one plastic key which both open and start the car. i would like a spare key fob (vw quoted me £199.99 for new two button fob and coding or £117 for an ordinary coded key) my key fob is part number HLO 1JO 959 753 N and 434mhz after researching as far as i can i beleive that i can buy a secondhand fob (same part number and frequency) and then get a new blade cut and because my car is immo2 (car/key symbol on tacho clock side) the rfid immobiliser chip reprogrammable yes/no? getting the blade cut and reprogramming the two buttons is easy enough but how or who can the rfid be recoded? ive asked vw for my skc (secret key code) but they cant/wont give it to me! just been to timpsons and a couple of other key cutters and they say they cant read the code off the key, comes up MG10 on key code reader machines? whats the cheapest way to get an ordinary spare key cut and coded? any help appreciated, thanks.

im in stoke on trent, am i right in thinking that if i had a cut key with a blank rfid that VAG tacho could retrieve my SKC code from my ECU and then program new key?
