Changing pads on a KA
« on: 21 August 2012, 12:41 »
Any advice on changing the front pads only on a ford KA the turtle shape. I got pads on the way from ECP. Read several guides and they all seem to contradict each other. Whats the best way to do it and any tools needed?

I have the usual tools, but I don't have a caliper winding tool, nearest tool I have is a caliper spreader if its needed (like a g-clamp with two big metal steal plates to force things apart).

Any help or advice is appreciated.

done KA pads before, cant rmber anything about doing them so they must be a straight forward no fuss no bother job.

no need for a rewind tool as such  just push the piston back.

altho worn out frount pads is an ideal excuse  to get rid of it
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Pull the pin out the bottom, slide caliper up, push piston back and put new pads in.

5 minutes a side!

Sounds straight forward as some guides said a rewind tool needed, then you need to bleed it out etc other saying you don't.

Can't sadly get rid of it as misses loves it, however a front set was only £10 from ECP so I can't complain

Never done any with a pin? Clip over the front of the caliper to pry off. 2x 7mm allen keys in back. But as you say... Easy 5 minutes a side!
