I used the LC on my ED30 less then 10 times in the 3 years I had it. I made the same mistake the first time I used it (full throttle). Once you have worked out best launch usually 2.5-2.8k revs then once launched give it more revs based on traction. It is faster than in D or S but only fractionally. Used it once on the MK6 and not used it on the ED35 yet. Better have some fun later on

The advice of 2.5k revs appears right. Just been on a stag do and a mate of mine who recently sold his scirocco r reckons 2.5k, then foot off the brake and plant the throttle. Then with a bit of practice just drag the brake pedal slightly to stop the spinning. Which is actually a technique used on motorbikes.

Funnily enough he also said that the initial launch is faster than what he can do in his (manual) M3

I always thought that launch control worked with the thottle pinned to the floor. If your left foot is on the brake, the revs won't go about a certain amount with DBW. So if you are in Sport with the brake pressed and throttle pinned, the car knows you are wanting a rapid start, so will give you the pre-programmed amount of revs to give you a consistant launch every time. If you are modulating the throttle yourselves, surely the car will not recognise that as a request for launch control, and it will be you doing the driving instead.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

LC does limit the revs to 3-3.2k so you can launch with full throttle, but as you have to disengage the ESP it will spin if you keep the throttle wide open. LC does give a controlled launch eg engagement of drive and disengages the drive until the brake is released.

I see. I thought it would maybe short shift for you if it sensed too much wheelspin.

not tired it, but read somewhere you can engage TC again after the procedure. Must give it a try sometime...
