Those that have it, can you give some candid reviews of who you use, if you have had to make a claim, how they responded and what the customer service is like, along with level of cover?

I'm looking at a few, and yes, low cost is all well and good, but I would also rather pay a little more, for a company that will actually act reasonably, should anything go wrong, and provide a level of cover that will cover the immediate building, contents, and some items away from home. Me on my bike lets say, or laptops.

I know about only insuring for the cost of the rebuild, not what I brought for as these values are very different in 90% of house buying situations. Any other little bits of information I could add in that might help make the price a little more competetive?

Cheers.

Been with Zurich since we moved in approx 6 years ago.

Made a couple of claims during that time on the roof.  Both times they responded pretty quickly and gave us the go ahead for the repairs.

With regards to the contents it depends what you most definitely want insured.  You then also get a level of personal possessions.  The value on the latter can have an impact on the amount you pay.

I'll try and dig out the details tonight but we currently pay about £33 p/m

I used to be with Zurich too, although I was quoted better with Nationwide this time out. I also had a claim on my roof whilst with Zurich, and they were pretty good tbf. Didn't take an overly long time to sort out, even though my policy ended with them half way through the process. Roof tiles slipped after high winds, causing water ingress, and damage to upstairs landing ceiling and wall. Called them, got a quote from a local firm, and they acted on it. Simples.

Use Axa through C*ntrywide for mine.

Contents - claimed a couple of times in the last decade.  Never had any issues.

Just keep away from BeValued as the claim fulfilment agent.

C*nts.

I'm also interested in hearing some view, more so on the contents insurance side of things as we rent.

Me too. Chelsea and I totalled up what we own and it's quite scary how much all out stuff is actually worth (or was). What providers are best for contents cover then?

When renting I used Endsleigh, but fortunately never had to claim so cannot comment on that. Buildings & contents is now with Legal and General, again never had to claim. It covers items up to £1500 on my person, and a couple of grands worth of garden/outbuildings cover as well.

I used to work in the insurance industry.

Do not touch Aviva Or RSA they are hard work to get decisions from and will do anything to get out of paying for anything ( before anyone say it I know all insurance company will do this to a degree but these Will take the Pi**)

Example: property has had a bad flood and the there is moisture under the kitchen floor tiles, The dehumidifier will dry it to an extent but they need to come up,It is normal practice is to uplift them and dry the concrete base. Aviva refused to pay to have the tiles uplifted and insisted the dehumidifies would dry them. They were even told the grout was a waterproof one.

After four months 24h use of dehumidifies insured in rented accommodation Payed for by Aviva  , loads of phone calls emails, 2 loss adjusters they agreed to uplift the tiles - the concrete base dried in 6 days :lipsrsealed:

The good guys NFU national farmers union - send one loss adjuster and always agree to do what is necessary to put the property back to pre incident condition as quickly as possible.Out buildings are covered by most policy's

Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and if you have a fire or flood you will be glad you paid the extra.
