Yes they are truly awesome machines....

How do you know? :lipsrsealed:

Tbh mate if a mk6 is a bit of a stretch then i'd go for a mk5, they drive the same and you can get a really tidy well specced one for good money these days.

You really think that's a reasonable courtesy car to have, to replace your 12 year old car?  You REALLY think that's reasonably covered by your annual policy?

I don't suppose you've signed a credit agreement for the courtesy car, have you?  Claim management company involved?  Have a read:

http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars/article-1692116/Beware-the-car-insurance-courtesy-car-trap.html

My advice would be get the GTI back to where it came immediately to reduce your exposure to this situation, because if I was the paying insurer I'd contend hiring a new GTI in is not mitigating the costs of the claim, more ripping off everyone else who pays for insurance.

Remember, if it feels like it's too good to be true, it probably is.  These people aren't there to make you feel better after having an accident, they're there to make money, nothing more.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.
