easiest way of getting more power is to fit the 2.0 8v engine (you'll need the ecu but the rest should be fine... oh but upgrade you brakes!)

nothing, 1.8 SPI is hopeless for tuning!
buy another engine or car.....

did you not test drive your car before you bought it?

I test drove my AAM (75PS 1.8) and then bought it, but well much slower then my 2E (115PS 2.0).... state over power in this case...

what about a mk2 gti camshaft?

Even if you fitted it any gains will be tiny.

the 1.8 has tiny gains in it . i put a k&n panel filter in it and a magnex cat back . you need to enjoy it for what it is or go get a valver or vr6 . most of us buy the 1.4/1.6/1.8 due to their reliabilty and cheapness .

i love my 1.8 and yes i know its SLOW but i love the satisfaction of coming out every morning and knowing it will always start and take me anywhere i want and back again and all it asks for is fuel and love .

just like a golf ..... ;)
