K04 hybrid agu
« on: 19 August 2012, 10:24 »
hi guys. im looking to go down the forged rods route for big bhp on my agu. no ive got a k04-023 turbo which would benefit from a rebuild so at the same time i could have it hybrid. now my question is what bhp Ib/ft torque figures would we be looking at in a healthy engine with the right supporting mods? im looking to sell my s14 200sx to fund this lol.

cheers Lee

I'd say it all depends on the rest of the engine build mate.

I run a ko4 hybrid AGU, and it's just amazing.

having an AGU, you're at a huge advantage already with large port and high compression. if you couple that with a relentless manifold and down pipe, and a decent FMIC with 2.5'' pipework, you shouldn't have any issues seeing 330bhp on a healthy engine.

my current setup makes around 300bhp on a very conservative map, due to my engine having 216k on it with stock rods! On the dyno Niki had it producing 329bhp at just 19psi, with another 4psi or more of boost possible, so i wouldn't think 345-350 is out of the question at all. These figures were without WMI also, which I've now fitted :)

Some serious power

Those relentless manifolds are something else I really want one but its a new turbo, new downpipe, new mani and turbo intake pipe then finally another map lol
1.6-1.8t AGU K03s, Forge actuator, Forge 007p, turbo back exhuast, Ths front mount, Catch can, 5 piece silicone boost pipes and creation sports tip. Stage 2 atm 232bhp 270lbs. Waiting for custom mapping :-)

yea, the step up from ko3 frame to ko4 is fairly big in terms of parts you need, obviously you've already got the MAF Jamie, but you'd need bigger injectors again too, plus all new oil and water lines as well.

Plus the ko4 downpipes don't mate up directly to a golf catback system either, so it's all hasstle, but well worth it!

I took my AGU to a typical st2 spec and left it like that, and spent a few years developing the rest of the car, then when i reached a point where the chassis seemed ready, I went straight to the ko4 hybrid and havn't looked back!

i can't imagine it without the power now, it's just so addictive!

Haha I bet it is mate

One more day left in work im up R-tech

Give me a year I might consider it, Im in the process of upgrading brakes, bushes etc at the moment which would take about a year for me considering costs and still being comfortable every month.

Would love to see what these k04'd AGU's go like mind. One day

yea, when the car is working, and I'm at home, providing I'm not drunk I'm more than happy to take any interested parties out for a ride :)

I'm in basingstoke mate.
