Your ignition amp needs a heat sink put back on it. That wire looks a mess.  :laugh:
AGU 1.8T. Mods done: R32 front bumper, turborev smic, ngk platinum spark plugs, uprated pancake pipe, demon motorsport boost hoses, forge 007 dv, forge engine cover, r-tec stage 1 map ,home made cold airfilter ,run on 98 ron fuel and castrol edge 0w 40 oil. Advanti racing alloys.

I would hazard a guess that it to stop a fault code popping up...

A lot of hassle for just that though!

Well theres 2 signal wires to ECU, a live and a earth....so depends which PIN it goes to.

proper bodge either way lol

i will strip it back at work tomorrow and add a pic... if i disconnect the wire added which goes to earth then start the car it fire's then die's... the only way to get the car to drive is to have the maf unplugged with this wire going to earth... if i plug it in it will splutter and back fire when i drive over 3.5k... got to get this sorted asap... f*cking cowboy bodgers  i hate them with a passion

How does it peform in its bodged state? Mine ran the same, maf plugged in it would turn over but not run, unplug maf and ran but used loads of fuel and performed like a 1.4, turned out it was a boost hose had blown off, didnt discover this till after I had fitted a new maf.
MK4 GTI T AGU, REVO Remap, BMC carbon box, Miltek cat back, Forge diverter valve, THS FR3 engine/Gbox mounts, Some random alloys, lowered on coilovers.
192bhp 212lbft torque.

sounds just like mine buddy, also noticed the DV is a bit quieter aswell... may have to check all boost pipes... just out of curiosity what pipe was off on yours?
