I would have thought VW would still be using a two stage system in there keys. A remote section that opens and closes the door and an imobiliser section that uses TIRIS keyring tag system.
You could a couple of years ago still get aftermarket imobilisers that you had to touch a key fob up against a certain part of the dash to disable it.
If your so worried they will simply ring the bell and force the keys you need an anti hijack system that will kill the car once the revs drop to a certain level. People like Clifford use to do these.
