advise... please read.
« on: 03 July 2005, 17:50 »
hi all, i went to view a mk1 gti yesterday, i gave the car a real good look over for rust in the common places, only evidence of rust was on the drivers side sill which had already been welded up.
i noticed a few things that made me think twice as i dont know much about golfs.
high idle of around 1200 rpm?
dash wanst secure?
no mot
speedo didnt work, he said he had disconnected the weekend befor to do some work and had forgotten to reconnect ???
drivers side quarter window was in srcure, aswell as metal stip?
vdo gauges fitted but not connected?
pics here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1& ;item=4558705254&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
any advise on this one?

to be honest most mk1's have a few little problems! mine runs at about 1200rpm when stood!

so 1700 would be a good price? it alos comes with another engine and gearbox with a shrick cam and flowed head, i was quite happy with the body work just unsure with the faults it had,  not sure if i said but its a campain in lhasa green.
im not worried about getting my hands dirty, infact i would rather do something to make it more MY car but dont wanna take on more work than i can handle. are the faults going to be an easy fix or is it gonna be a pain in the but???

i paid 1600 for mine, if it goes well and the body work is sound then its a good price, does it have alloys? lowered? any mods?

yeh bodywork isnt 100 % but i would a expect a 22 year old car to be, no rust tho.
yeh it has a few mods :
16v brakes or so he says
uprated suspension all round
lowerd 25mm
rear arb
front and rear strut braces
vdo gauges however they dont work?
i think he said it had a bigger throttle body possibly a 16v one

think thats about it, was gonna get it as a project to do untill october until i have my 2nd no claims
