Anthracite Monza 2's
« on: 15 August 2012, 16:41 »
Well after lots of deliberation, I'm getting my monzas refurbished. Not keeping the machine face though, getting them anthracite powder coated. They are getting chemical stripped, re-sprayed, balance and re-valved. £200 cash which is about normal.

Couldn't face paying over £400 to get the machine face done for there to be every chance that they could bubble and white worm within a week on U.K's dog crap gritty potholed roads.

I'll get some pics up when i get the car back on friday. Is it just me or am I being strange feeling nervous about someone driving my car away. I know it gets left at the dealers when getting serviced etc so they could dick around with it, but still got reservations.

they are picking it up tomorrow late morning then bringing it back friday late morning. Their workshop is about 12 miles away and i'd have no way of getting back. My job dictates very strange times also can't really get away from work.

My GTI is my first nice car so maybe just that little extra paranoid about everything (Should see me in a car park!) :undecided:

I'm sure it'll be fine, i'll let them know i'll be taking note of the mileage, they do alot of work for the local Bentley/Jag/Merc dealers so my car will be nothing compared to wahat they're used to dealing with.

Took my guy 8 hours to do 4 wheels. Finished in an infra red booth, left me with a pot of lacquer and anthracite paint to repair chips. £240 and he travelled from Cheddar in Somerset to South Devon too!

I had the same process done check out the pics on my thread.... http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=225815.0

It really makes the look of the car in my opinion. And as you say the risk in getting the dreaded 'worm' at any stage after the refurb is almost to much to bare!

Those wheels look good!  Thinking the grey will look good on a red GTI. I'll make sure I'll get the pics up.
