« on: 13 August 2012, 23:18 »
a friend of mine is having issues with her mk2 16v(has the 9A corrado engine in).... long story short she tokk it for an MOT and it faired on a few bulbs, tyre and high emissions<<< any ideas on that would be helpful.... but it ran out of fuel on the way bk and now don't wanna run.... put petrol in, fuel cleaner and sprayed the carb. its tries to tick over but just cats out after about 2 seconds. as i'm a lowly 8v owner i'm after ideas common issues please guys.

did try a search but didn't show owt up  :undecided:

if its got pistons or tits, either way its gonna be expensive

Mine is having the same problem cutting out just after starting, though it does then start (and keep running) on the 2nd or 3rd try. Someone has suggested the fuel filter and its on the list to be replaced very soon. If the car ran out of fuel it could be that whatever gunk was in the dregs of the petrol tank blocked the fuel filter completely.

even with the ISV disconnected/not working the car should still idle of the idle screw on the throttle body when up to temp - though it struggle to idle when stone cold

ISV is the small electrical cylinder beside number 4 inlet runner, just infront of dizzy. with the ignition turned on, feel the ISV it should be buzzing. if it aint then thats your problem

check the wiring & sender for it, green & red wire beside water outlet below dizzy. you can swap it over with the red/yellow wire or blue/white wire senders to test
