ABF question
« on: 12 August 2012, 14:56 »
Where does the water temp gauge gets it readings from the abf block? On my 9A is was on the right side of the block. The coolant sensor which the megasquirt uses is done by that big round plug so no worries there. But I need an oil feed for my mfa and a water temp sensor for my gauge in the dashboard. Also underneath the top rad hose on the block there is an outlet/inlet, what is this ? After that I'm ready to start the car.

Water temp sender is on the right hand side of the block (gearbox side) by the water outlet. From memory the black one is for the dash temp gauge, white one for the ECU.

Regarding the outlet do you mean the black box looking thing? If so there should be a breather hose attached to that.

Cool, yeah there should be a breather hose that comes out of there, up to the PCV valve (circular plastic outlet thing) which then connects via a solid plastic pipe to the air intake pipe.

Here's a pic of the setup on mine if it's any help

If only my bay was like that ! OK thanks mate, I'll do a bit of shopping then , havn't got any of that stuff from the block to the airbox. While on the subject, on the inlet pipe just by the TB theres a hole, I can see a little pipe coming from it in your pic. Where does this go. And the pipe that goes under the injector cover, is that for the isv?

Yeah pipe under the injector cover/HT lead holder shroud goes to the ISV.

With the inlet pipe do you mean the hole on the bottom of it nearish the TB? If so that goes to the circular PCV (which is what the solid plastic pipe mentioned before is).

If you mean the small black pipe on the throttle body itself it's just a blanking cap (think it's for the emissions canister on a mk3 but not needed on a mk2 so I binned all of that ).

HTH.

What does this pvc valve do? Could I just blank off all the holes apart from the oil breather, or does it have to go through this pvc vavle?
