Stuck tre
« on: 12 August 2012, 14:16 »
I have a hub carrier im in the process of stripping down but the old track rod end is stuck fast. Ive tried hitting the treaded part with a hammer and heating it but it wont move. I have finally ended up cutting off most of it so it could try and press the spindle out with a vice but even this and heat wont shift it. Does anyone have any suggestions because im getting close to drilling it but it will be very hard not to damage the taper.

I take it you don't have a ball joint splitter as they usually get them out no bother.

I have one but the hub isnt on a car so you cant get leverage (fork type). Have got it out now hit the side of the casting to shock the taper whilst in was under pressure in the vice.
