Gti body kit option

I just saw a gti for sale on eBay with a abt kit ( i think) and it's horrendous. Why would you buy a gti and then spec a awfull looking body kit

I remember Listers having cars like this for sale when they were new. They ruined Scirocco's in a similar way too.

The best part was, they were asking £40k if not more for them.
