1.4 golf match
« on: 02 July 2005, 23:27 »
hey

just got a golf match 1.4 v16. i'm only 19 and its great for a first car.

just wondering it its worth chipping a 1.4 engine. would i see any different , i heard that its only worthwhile chipping turbo engines

just want to make it a bit fast like and was just looking into chipping but i dont know much about it or cars for that matter.

any tips would be great

thanks

you wont really get any significant gains from just chipping it, need to get it breathing freely first.. i.e green cotton panel filter (maybe mod your airbox too, smooth it out inside and cut a hole in with some pipe in it ducting cold air from the front) and performance exhaust/cat.

A performance camshaft would give it a good extra va va voom, certainly gave my 1.6 more than i was expecting, bit expensive though.  about the same price as chipping

Can't think of a funy or whitty comment

thanks for the replies. what exactly is a camshaft ?  i guess i'd just get it fitted by a garage yeh if i bought one myself.

how much extra power u reckon it gave u in your 1.6 ??
