china turbo purchase
« on: 10 August 2012, 21:19 »
well, after hearing not so bad things about chinese turbo`s from nick at r-tech i went and bought one. it`s a k04-001 with a bit of a twist. it has a larger turbine and also a larger compressor which appears to be of k04-023 variety.
from a visual inspection it seems to be machined well and has been balanced.
i`m not expecting the world from this turbo and am using it as a bit of an experiment. it`s an old car and it`s not my daily anymore so if it breaks then it doesnt matter, i will fix it again eventually. (wether it be engine swap, rebuild ect ect)bla bla bla bits of turbine flying towards my face and all that..

Is this from MAXSPEEDING.....

If it is I know a few people who have brought steel H section rods from them,
They have all been very well balanced and are working very well in engines running upwards of 300bhp.

When I finally get my 1.8t Ill be buying the rods from them

no mate. its not from them, though it is from a well known ebay seller. i only bought it due to the spec and the fact i didnt have to source the parts to build it myself.. so if it does blow up. as long as the housings hold out i can always rebuild it with better parts.
