QUICK DOC, LOCK THE THREAD!!!!

Jim

I kind of started it lol

Had a rental today which was a manual and enjoyed using a manual box. Covered all sorts of driving country roads, motorway and town. Did it feel more involving, yes but not in a positive way gear changes were slow and argricultural in comparison. One of the most alarming things was during the country road driving mostly spirited was the time my left hand was off the wheel and it just felt slightly unsafe compared to my normal drive and yes less in control. In summary if I had to by a car with a manual only option I would buy it no problem, if there is a DSG type (manual/semi auto) option I would choose this over manual. However if there was a regular auto option  then no.
Current: GTI Edition 35 Candy White 5dr DSG 19" Glendale, RCD510+DAB, Dynaudio, Storage Pack, Parking Sensors

Gone: Edition 35, GTI Mk6, Edition 30, GTI Mk4, GTI Mk3, GTI Mk2 and my favourite the UR quattro
For those that dont know DSG is an electronically controlled dual-clutch multiple-shaft manual gearbox

This most alarming factor here is how quickly you have lost the ability to drive a proper car

What is it with this type of attitude just because I prefer a DSG does not mean I can't drive (i can opperate a manual with no problems as i have explained) there really is  no need to slag my or anyone elses driving off as you don't know the first thing about how I drive?  You really are taking this far too seriously

Yes, had I stated that you had not embraced new technology and inferred that made you a poor driver I could understand the attitude but I havent so please don't make this personal.

Lol you are funny, first of all if you really wanted a drivers car you'd never drive a VW anyway, lets face the facts and get real, it would have to be the GTR !

Surely this funny man is a joker?

If you wanted a 'drivers car' you wouldn't choose a Playstation on wheels that's controlled by computers.
You'd probably spend your £80k on something with the engine in the wrong place, no computer controlled 4WD system, a LSD and an organic link between the drivers foot and the engine....oh, and a manual gearbox!

Unless of course, you just wanted a fast car, with the minimal amount of actual 'driving' required?

Reducing my Golf count by the week....
..but gaining motorcycles.
