Had problems with my new mk2 gti 8v (digi)

Ill explain the whole story from beginning!
Bought the car from Hull and drove 240 miles home with no issues at all! Only issue was no main beam/dipped blue led working on dash and no mfa. Next day the clocks died on me, only could see what mph i was doing as its controlled by cable I believe. No oil pressure, fuel gauge, revs or dash lights (indicator lights on the clocks - indicators themselves work fine). Car cut out on me and battery was completely dead? Jump started it was fine so I drove around 7 miles home no problems except for no clocks. Got home, car was standing for around an hour, jumped in, started fine and drove to get a mate from the pub, car was idling and it cut out on me - I did not stall the car, battery dead. Jump started it and drove it home no problems.
Got up next day to work and I drove the car around 5 miles and the car started to slow down, had to drop down gears until I couldn't go anywhere then car died. Tried to start but battery was dead again, I could hear relay 32 clicking flat out and clocks were sort of flashing with the clicks?? Towed it to garage and they had a look, checked everything and said it was fine? Lad in the garage said relay 32 was getting too hot. Drove it from garage to get fuel, filled up £20 and car died around 2 miles down the road exact same symptoms, loss of power, drop down gears and then finally just cutting out. Tried to start again after cutting out but battery was dead again, I could hear relay 32 clicking flat out again and clocks were flashing with the clicks again.
Left the car for 2 days, swapped battery and started fine, drove around 8 miles no problems at all. Parked, left it running, turned off and started again no issues. The car has cobra after market alarm and push start, so I disconnected the alarm fuse and cable from the immobiliser and checked battery charge and alternator and all was ok. Started car again and drove 7 miles home, no issues except clocks still not working? I can hear the fuel pump (front of rear wheel driver side) priming and sounds fine? The time on the clocks has worked fine through all this which tells me the clocks aren't dead?
Cant depend on this car (my only car) so need this sorted. Ill take it for a spin tonight again to see if it cuts out but the clocks still don't work. Any help would be appreciated as id like to sort this out asap!
