I have an avantgarde cabriolet, mine also has a chipped reverse gear.
Apart form sounding awful its never been a problem.
I have had my car for two years and its still going strong

2yrs! do you have to be careful with it and treat it differently? is yours loud?
the thing is, im debating whether to keep this car or sell it on, i bought it to sell on in which case i would need to sort it but if i decide to keep it and sell my 1.4 daily then it doesnt matter if its a bit noisy and i can take my time getting the box replaced. hhmmm what to do!

It embarrassingly loud. If I kept a little pressure on the clutch it keeps it quiet.
I've learned to live with it, id like to get it changed.

do you not worry about the bits of metal in the gearbox doing further damage?

Didn't think of that .

I'm sure someone told me there is a magnet in the gear box to collect swarf but i could be wrong.
