MK4 Golf will not lock!

Hi guys,
Basically my golf will not lock. I have had this problem before but solved it by reprogramming the key from the manual. However, this has happened again and the key will not reprogram. The previous owner took out the locking barrels on the driver and passenger doors, and this has made things more difficult! The only way the doors will lock is by pushing the lock down from the inside, the button located by the window switches will only lock the drivers door, all the other locks pop back up. I had a suggestion that this could be to do with the central convenience module, but I want to be sure before I buy any parts.
Thanks

Do the electric windows / interior lights work, if they have all gone it could be CCM. I had same problem 2 weeks ago and thought it was CCM but turned out to be a fuse so check fuses first mate.

By the way, if you click the button on the door twice quite clickly it locks the doors and prevents them from popping back up.
Just a tip - ontop of this - could be a door module. Head over the FAQ section i'm sure there's a guide in there,
