Evening all,
I've had the car for 6 months now and I think it's time it had a few changes made to it. To describe it: it's a 3d, black with 18 Monza's and tinted from factory. Inside, it's got leather, DSG (with paddles), 10 speaker sound system, Auto changer and MFSW. The car is completely q£250 to have all re-sprayed.
Inside: The car comes with the big speaker upgrade. A great sound, I must add, but the head unit lets it all down. Again, I would much prefer a original VW RNS510 etc - but couldn't justify the price of them. How many of you have fitted similar after market units? I've seen plenty on ebay/internet that would do the trick at a quarter of the price of OEM - but are they any good? I must say, some of them have some horrendous graphics !
Thanks for reading and I shall look forward to your opinions/recommendations.

My own opinion would be either a Revo stage 1 map or an Evolution Chips custom map (speak to Kenny). But there are tons out there. Superchips Live or Bluefin handheld. APR. R-Tech. Carbon Chip. Celtic Tuning to name a few....
As far as exhausts go, sound is just sound, you'll need a turbo back exhaust to realise any potential gains. I went for a custom built Longlife USA turbo back system with 200 cell cat. It's 80mm as opposed to the standard 76mm you get with most others, I don't know if it makes any difference, but my ko3 manual Gti made 30bhp+ with just the exhaust, intercooler and intake. The system retailed at over £950 Inc fitting, but for cash £800

Cold air intakes definitely make a difference (conical end air or carbon filters make f**k all difference, but do create a nice induction note). My own advice would be either a Forge twin take (149litres) or a Raid HP (152litres) silicon system. The latter is the one I opted for. The OEM intake is capable of inducting only 112 litres a second and if you simply replaced the filter element for an uprated panel such as a Pipercross piece, then you may induct 120 litres, but that is a shady figure at best. There are other options and they are as follows; Evoms intake (141litres) Neuspeed Flow (139litres) BMC CDA (137litres).
As far as your Monza's are concerned, you can get a proper refurb done for less than £250 donks. Just don't opt for the diamond cut finish, as you'll end up with 'white worm' again inside a year. I went for a powder coat anthracite colour and they look fab, the only downside being when they get stone chipped it reveals the alloy colour, although it's hardly noticeable. The BBS ch are fab wheels but new will set you back a minimum of £800, but more likely a grand. Only you can make thus decision.
As far as your paintwork is concerned, £250 seems very cheap. I had my rear bumper and side skirts colour coded and it cost me £450 and that was reasonable. I would suggest getting another a quote and then booking the car in for a full paint correction, usually around £150-£250 donks, but well worth it! Once you've had the work done keep I coated at all times. Ive heard great things about Collinite 476, but even a super seal Turtle wax will offer adequate protection from oxidisation, salt, bird sh!t etc
My car also has the ten speaker upgrade and the standard head unit and I've gotta be honest. It's f**kin sh!t! Problem is, if you upgrade the head unit alone, then the speakers rattle like two grandparents f**king, even more so than they do as standard

My plan is to disconnect a lot of the speakers and just keep a few tweeters and then have a couple of banging 6x9" concealed somewhere. It'll be. Much better option!
Hopefully some of this helps you out, if you haven't already gotten bored of the lack of forthcoming information and just gone on your own instincts?
Lettuce nose either way and to beef hair, I usually find this forum incredibly helpful.
