Magnex backbox fitting
« on: 01 August 2012, 22:43 »
Haldo,
Just taken delivery of a Magnex back box and the pipe is too long to fit onto the standard centre box pipe. I'm going to attempt to cut the centre box pipe down a little bit but I have a few questions...
What size disc should I use to cut the pipe? I have an angle grinder to hand and heard 1mm is best
Also it looks like I'm going to have to cut the pipe whist its still attached. Is there anything that can be badly damaged if I make a mistake(apart from my hand), such as a brake line?

Also, is anyone knows, where the hell should I cut it?! I'm going to be guessing and don't want a huge screw up

your best choice is to take it off to back box iirc , the magnex box is really long its self , i have one but mine has a mid box deletion pipe so it fits up nicely without cutting it , so if i was you look for a deletion pipe (makes hardly any noise difference ) before you cut it up but im sure someone will soon point you in the right direction

I was in same boat as you, well still am

It won't fit! I cut the end of back box off, then cut it down to what I needed then tig welded the end back on.

I wouldn't mind deleting my centre box because i heard it makes the magnex sound a lot nicer, but i'm not sure how much a pipe will cost

I was going to cut the backbox up, which would be easier, but i want to be able to resell it afterwards

Why I bought the whole cat back system.
Wish i had the money! The backbox was pretty cheap on its own
