Anybody know anything about dicast models?
« on: 01 August 2012, 22:32 »
Ok I am trying to find out what scale size a dicast car I just bought is.
Just won a mk3 golf pull bac and go toy car on eBay.
I'm going to take it apart paint it and buy some model BBS wheels for it.
The car is 11 long and the wheels are 1 and a Half cm in size.
Have found a company on eBay that sells cool rims for model cars but they are sold in sizes like 17" for scale size 24/1 or what ever the scales are.

How do I tell what scale it is?

I'd say it was 1:370 if to scale.
That means for every cm on the model, there is 370cm of actual car.

oh yeah sorry 11cm long

i will have a look when it arives. thought seeing as its not a top model scale car but a pull back and go toy i as using the dicast shell from it may not have scale sizes on it.

Take a gander here, 1:24 seems most likely

Lol@1:370, faultless logic, but scaling doesn't quite work like that.
Mk2 GTi.

Big car in real life then. 40ish metres long!

It would help if each part of the ratio was in the same unit of measurement, oops!

Either 11:370 in mm or 1.1:37 in cm then

Is scaling ratio different to a normal ratio then?

The size that you describe is most likely 1:43 scale
