Before you do... I'd double check there no requirement to have the key recoded. You might get a certain amount of time to replace the battery before it loses it's data.

I know nothing about this but just a thought. Could be a simple task turned nightmare!! Haha

Nah not mine, I detailed a mk5 over the weekend and he asked about changing the battery
