Non working speedo...

I'm hoping someone can help here, I've recently, bought my mk3 gti, one of the issues is the non working speedo!
The rev counter works fine but the speedo won't move at all and its not clocking the miles either. The obc let's you select through the options but only displays engine temp and outside temp, and mpg, mph etc doesn't display!
Any help and pics of the cable location is appreciated, thanks in advance

Which GTI do you have? 2E, ADY, AGG?

Sounds speed sender is working as rev counter works though....

I'm new to VW, I've only ever owned bmws, and so not sure what I have lol, how do i find that out?
The guy I got the car off said he had tried a new clock but the same thing happens

As I've said speed sensor is working (G28), but the speedo one might not (G22) - you can find G22 on gearbox, look for a cable with three wires, white-blue, black and brown-white. That's gonna be culprit if the previous owner already tried replacing the clocks.

your engine code is on cambelt cover and in the service book, if you have a mid-year GTI the above is correct.
