Getting to fusebox
« on: 28 July 2012, 17:51 »
HI folks
1) Have found a few topics on how to add to a mk5 fusebox, but on a six, there is a difference around the clusters so it makes removing the trim in front of it difficult. Ca anyone confirm if and how to release the clusters to get the trim off?

2) in the fuse box, only one of the free fuse locations seems to have a carrier. so if I need to add more fuses, how do I do that? Maybe it's obvios once you have the fusebox out, but since I can't get it out for now...

3) would all the fuses in a row have the same power (ir always live, or live when ignition on only)? I need to add one always live (I found one with a "carrier" or whatever it's called), but now need to add two connections for ignition on power.

4) lastly, Can some of you good folks check and let me know what the fuse rating is for your RVC and for your PDC?

Thanks

From that is seems RVC uses 10A fuse, PDC shared with either fuse 1 or 4 - Thanks Snoopy -  will check if they both turn on with ignition.

Now I need to get at it.

To get at the back of the fuse holder you need to remove the steering column trim, then the dash insert and then you get at the screws for the right had trim piece. You need to remove the light switch and the cubby hole first.

As always, thanks Mike. How do you get complete access to Elsawin? I tried the online subscription, but I only seem to get limited sections.
