Hi all I'm new to the forum however have been a frequesnt visitor reading all things Golf.
So I have had my first service today on my Golf GTI Mk6 and for me was a major one but was/is needed to ensure the car is in tip top condition, so work to be done was to include the full major service as recommended at 40,000miles and brake fluid change as recommended every 2 years so this was due. A little haggling and my local VW garage agreed to do this for £250 which I thought was a good deal! Excellent!
So I have just picked the car up and the invloiuce I was given has just confused me and I'm hoping people could shed some light and advise on how to proceed:
Firstly thee is no mention of my brake fluid change or any charge for brake fluid, which leaves me asking if this has actually been done? or just mised of the invoice?
Secondly I made a point when handing the car over that I ONLY wanted Castrol Edge 5w30 oil being used but the bloke said they use Shell, he grabbed a bottle of the stuff and it looked decent and was 5W30 so I was happy with this, however on the invoice I have been billed 1x shell and then a few items later there is a charge for 3 x w/shop synthetic, so would I be right in thinking they have put 1 litre shell then mixed with other stuff, surely this isn't right?
And finally when they eventually found my keys for they had miss placed them I get in my car to find the service book hadn't even been touched, nor the service schedule in the MFD so my car was beeping SERVICE NOW! well Im sure you can imagine this was the final straw, I had a good go at the poor girl on reception and requested all the above be wrote down in an official complaint. She advised the bloke will call me monday to explain further.
Also Iv'e never had a VW before but with a major service arn't you supposed to get a print out of the diagnostic report or something, all I got was an Invoice and a visual inspection sheet.
So just looking for peoples thoughts and advise from previous services's, I mean Im thinking I want to demand the car be drained and correct oil used and brake fluid done again, fo if the guy says we did it but forgot to invoice you how can I be sure if he is just saying it or not, really annoying thing is that my dads mate runs a garage and he could of done thge lot and more for £230 but I thought the VW service stamp is priceless and then I dont even get one.......
