Any suggetstions STOP oil pressure light
« on: 27 July 2012, 08:03 »
Hello

Would really appreciate it if anyone has any suggestions to my little problem im having with my golf 1.8 gti 20v turbo. The car just cut out the other day and wouldnt start again the STOP oil pressure warning flashed up but very briefly, so i checked the oil and it was very low so filled it up and all seemed ok  so took the car out and the same thing happened  so stuck in the car and after about half an hour the car started again ( think because it had a chance to cool down). I have now had the sump off checked the pick up pipe all seemed ok also had the oil pump off and that worked perfectly aswell, now going to flush with some cheap oil and change the oil filter is there anything else that i should maybe check at this stage before i fill her up with decent oil? is there anything i have missed? or has anyone else had a similar problem?

thank you very much for taking the time to read this and i would be very greatfull for any ideas thanks

It's a pain in the ass to get to, not sure on your car iv got a 1.6 16v it's right at the back under the inlet manifold Just a single Allen bolt undo the clip and wiggle out

Thanks Povey for your advice managed to change this yesterday and taken the car for a small blast and all seems fine just need to take for a long  drive now so fingers crossed , i didnt manage to get the grey plastic top part of the old sensor out of its metal bracket found this harder than getting the actual sensor part out any tips? Also this is my fault but where i have put the sump back on there is a very small oil leak so it looks like that has to come back off to be re sealed  and also i now have the airbag fault light come up on the dash  one thing after another
