Pulling to left, camber and tracking fine
« on: 26 July 2012, 16:13 »
doing my head in now my mk3 16v keeps pulling to the left...

Ive replaced the following but it still does it

•new wishbone bushes
•new discs/pads all round
•tyres and pressures are fine
•wheels are fine and balanced
•tracking fine
•camber fine
•suspension has new mounts/bushes

all i can think of now is

•fitting new wishbones
•swap tyres from front to back
•checking power steering belt is tight
•caliper sticking on front left (any way of disconnecting the left caliper or something ??)

Any other ideas before i start throwing money i dont have at it..

have you gone for a proper 4 wheel full alignment?

Rear calumets are known for sticking.
How hard was it to wind in?

Go for a drive let the car warm up but don't brake hard. Then stop and quickly check the wheel temps. If the left side is hotter, you have sticky caliper

Most roads will camber to the left by design, so road water will run to the curbs

Without appearing to be thick, is that actually true?

Sorry to state the bleeding obvious but he meant calipers.

If it is not that then...

You should check everything that holds your front struts in place for play - or get someone else to do it. Track rod ends, wishbone bushes, strut tops, drop links. It sounds to me like something is loose that gives you good numbers on a ramp but on the road the geometry is 'going west'.

Maybe pop in to your local while-you-wait MOT centre and get them to check it all for a tenner in hand?

My Mk3 doesn't pull at all, so there is something definitely amiss somewhere with yours I think.

Rear beam, suspension height (coilovers), engine mounts...
