RCD 510 Retrofit?
« on: 26 July 2012, 13:48 »
Has anyone retrofitted an RCD510 in place of their RCD310?  Is it a straight plug and play swap, or is there coding to be done with a vagcom or the like?  If it makes any difference my car is a 2012 model (as is the RCD510) and I have front and rear parking sensors.  Any help appreciated.  Thanks.

If it is coming from another car without the sensors then I think you will need to code them into the RCD510 after fitting.

Wiring wise it is just the same so should just be a swap.

I've tried that and I can't find anything - maybe I'm doing something wrong.

What he said.

Other than that it's a straight swap. Even the climate control display works.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

The offer still stands, pop over to mine, try the unit. If it's not compatible and doesn't work fully with everything on yours don't buy it.

I've also got VCDS if anything need coding.

Need to be quick though I've dropped the price and have it advertised elsewhere.

The dealer upgraded my 310 to a 510 and said it was a straight plug and play with the sensors working fine on screen.

Oh and it only cost me £100 too

Strange choice. Sundaydriver is giving you a cast iron guarantee if it doesn't work then you don't part with your cash!!  Its a win win situation. Like everyone else has said its a plug and play, however if it needs coding for the likes of your parking sensors then Sunday can do that as well.

Or have I read this completely wrong?!
