how can i test the blower switch?
« on: 25 July 2012, 19:36 »
hi. im trying to find the fualt on the fan/blower on my golf. i know the fan itself works as i connected live and neutral to it and it worked but now i want to test the switch. ive take the switch out so i can see all the wires in the back but which wires do i need to bridge over to bypass the switch?

you can only test if the switch is sending a current at the fan end I think

Or the wire sending the power to switch, if there is power going to the switch but not going to fan then i would say the switch is nazzed..
I want to be adored! - Oh, and I need one or two golf bits.

im trying to figure out if the switch is broken so i want a way to find out what the fault is. then fan itself works when i connect the live and neutral directly to it. for some strange reason when ive got my headlights on and the dash clocks light up blue. if i put the fan on any of the speeds it doesnt affect the blue light but as soon as i push the aircon or circulation button in the lights dim down alot. so this is why i need to work out if its the switch causing it or if there is a faulty cable somewhere:S

Fluke multi meter & a fair few VW wiring diagrams.

Your issue sounds slightly more complex than seeing if you get current. Perhaps time for an auto electrician  :lipsrsealed:
