I've literally just sold this very car for my daughter, completely mint, and unmarked paintwork...
Advertised on Autotrader, the phone was on fire all week! first caller came all the way from Hampshire to Leicester the very next day, and paid the full asking price in cash... Alpine White is BMW's racing colour, and is of course the correct colour for a Motorsport car, so its more than just White! White is more than just a passin fad!, its been with us now for around the last 6 years, and is showing no signs of people getting fed up with it, quite simply, expensive cars look stunning in White
The Blue will mark, and chip and look tired in a couple of years, but Hey Ho...

The white is very nice. However, I have just sold my gti which was candy white therefore I fancied a change more than anything.

The only thing that worries me is whether being blue and metallic that it will be more susceptible to scratching. Hopefully if its looked after like my gti it will be ok (+ don't let the Mrs near it). I shall post a thread on the detailing section to get advice on the best products to use.

The golf paintwork after 3 years was pretty much perfect. It sold in 20mins on Autotrader!

Now it looks like I have to wait for 4 months for delivery for the bmw due to prodcution issues...... That's german engineering for you!

It won't be any harder to scratch than the white you'll just see more if it does, but if you look after it which you will it'll be fine.

^^ +1

The challenge with blue is that it will have a light grey/white primer so will show the chips and scratches more  but the colour will be worth it

White/ black or gray 5 door, or blue 3 door!

i think any colour you go for will be nice and once sat behind the wheel you will not worry about the colour blue is a pain to keep tidy though any little scratch seems a thousand times worse than what it is as i have found out

red would be my ideal choice of colour personally once detailed a red car just looks amazing

Blue looks quality, I have seen a few Mark 1 White M Sports though which look very nice indeed.  Used to have a 118d in a slightly darker metallic blue, one of the most fun cars to drive ever!
