Door stiff/dropped.
« on: 23 July 2012, 14:43 »
I had quick search around, few links/people saying remove the door and put it back in place others saying jack it up with some wood? I am struggling to comprehend 'jacking up my door'  :undecided:

Where do would you put said piece of wood and what are you aiming to do exactly?

Any help much appreciated as my drivers door I almost have to rip open!!!!

Basically open the door and put the jack underneath. Have the wood on the jack to protect the paint. Take the weight of the door and slacken the hinge bolts. Use the jack to lift the door slightly and do bolts back up. This should realign it.
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...

And don't forget to keep them greased up!

I've got saggy doors, fixed it with the jack method but I've also got new hinges that I'm going to attempt to change sometime.
