Rear window washer and heated washer jets
« on: 04 October 2003, 16:47 »
My washer switch doesn't work the rear spray, instead always sprays the front. (front spray position also sprays the front windscreen.

The car has a single front windscreen wiper, don't know if this makes a difference.

Any ideas on how to solve this one?

Also looking under the bonnet near the jets there's a couple of unconnected wires, I suspect that these are for the heated washer jets, but apart from a couple of holes I can't see anywhere to connect them.

Do the wires plug into the holes, and does it matter which way round they go? (I would expect not as it's only the heater filament (length of wire).

The washer motor spins one way to spray the front screen and spins backwards to spray the back screen. Get someone to operate the back screen wash and listen to the motor to hear if its spinning.

If holding it in rear screen mode makes the front washers work then the motor is spinning the wrong way. may be a wiring or switch problem.

Your car may have the wiring for the jets but not the jets themselves. I wouldn't be sure without looking at mine how they connect. I would imagine it doesnt matter as your only making a connection to a filament in the jets that resists the current and heats up.

If you still have problems let me know and I'll take a pic of mine and send you it.

Ive changed my bonnet and have diffrent washer jets.
I dont think you need the heater element but in winter you might need them.
I dont think that these are causing your problem but it could be a wiring fault ???
