2.0 FSI

Hi all,

I've owend a 2.0 FSI for three months now but am mystified about one aspect of the Climatronic A/C operation - i.e. the switch marked Auto and  Econ. I have searched the VW handbook and understand what selecting Auto does to the A/c, but cannot find any mention of Econ. What does Econ mean ? Am I right in thinking that the compressor is normally permanently driven, but by selecting Econ you can disengage it thus saving fuel? Or does it mean something else ?

Auto recycles the air and econ uses fresh air. I use econ in the wet seasons to keep window fogging eliminated, and auto when running the a/c when it is quite hot for much cooler air. When using econ along with the a/c the compressor is utilized less, but also doesn't cool as much. Hope this helps..
