Semi Carbon can' delete
« on: 22 July 2012, 18:20 »
In the picture below you can see I replaced the hose with a blue one going to the one way valve. I deleted the other pipe that went to another one way valve and to the tip, so I still have the carbon canister left with just the one blue silicone hose. I did it this way as it was easier, and I seen it done on a skoda forum for the aum engine.

Is it ok to do this? I have no codes yet

Just delete the carbon canister altogether and block off the inlet.

If you look at my thread, including tidying up the PCV system. It works perfectly. With a rock solid idle.

I have noticed on a couple of times of starting the engine up it has failed, it sounds like it is struggling to start. this seems to only happen when I start the car up first time of the day. Could this be to do with not fully deleting the carbon canister?

I can't see how it could really. But I can only see separating the boost and PCV systems being a good thing.

Maybe plugs?

I haven't had my spark plugs changed in about 2 years, but I did just have a new set of coil packs. What are the best plugs to get?

Thanks

That may be ok depending what's in there ATM. I run NGK pfr6q's which are the OE platinum choice. But I only run light boost. They are about £10 each from ECP.

There are other plugs atoubd that run cooler but need changing more regularly

I can't remember what ones I put in mine, but they were about £22 from Halfords, and they were what Nick at R-Tech recommended. I have a stage 1 remap

probably Bosch super 4s then??

I use the Denso Iridium IK22 in mine, but they aren't cheap (£50) and wont be using them again
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)
